Zachary Schreckenberger

What are you looking forward to this service term?
This year, I am most looking forward to serving my community. Learning more about Chicago, social determinants of health, and myself through my hands-on, direct role at the IEI Princeton Vision Clinic will surely be an indelible experience and prove invaluable to my future career.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?

My career goals include becoming a community-based physician who serves those most in need. I am most interested in specializing in pediatrics, women's health, LGBTQ+ care, and emergency medicine. In addition to practicing medicine, I would like to integrate clinical research, civic engagement, and community outreach into my career.

I'm interested in learning about...
I want to explore and understand more about the multifaceted social determinants of health - housing, food security, transportation, childcare, and education. Also, on housing insecurity within Chicago, LGBTQ+ barriers to care, aging populations' needs, substance use, education/childcare and health.
