NFHC member, Britteny (the Healthy Start Projects & Care Coordinator at the Florida Department of Health in Baker County), meets with incarcerated women, for whom this question is a reality. Through this blog, you can get a glimpse of the issues incarcerated women face when it comes to parenting and the steps Britteny is taking to address such concerns.

Through her current service as a Patient Advocate, Erica sheds some light on the stigma surrounding homelessness and the difficulties faced by the homeless population in the Northeast Florida community. Her role may be to help patients get the medications they need to help manage their chronic diseases, but she understands that no matter how many patients she helps to get medication, this is only a small part of the services a person may need to not even overcome, but manage his or her situation.
