What is your title and role at your host site?
As a Health and Life Skills Educator at the Sulzbacher Center I will be responsible for creating, facilitating and coordinating classes on health related topics and a job search curriculum. Additionally, I will develop on-going plans and a nutritional curriculum for residents focused on healthy cooking and the benefits of good nutrition.

Why did you join the National Health Corps Florida AmeriCorps program?
I joined Americorps to expand my passion for volunteering from part-time service as college student to full-time service while gaining exposure to a diverse population.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
I hope to increase my understanding of the public health system, how it addresses the needs of the underserved, and how I can help in this effort.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
I hope to matriculate to an MD/MPH program with the public health studies focused on nutrition and its role in combating chronic diseases.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
Graduating from medical school with a Masters of Public Health degree and excited to take on the challenges of residency to heal the sick and hopefully begin to influence public policy.
