What is your title and role at your host site?
As a health educator, my focuses will be on the Youth Fit For Life initiative, exercise and nutrition for refugee and immigrant families, and fitness events at the DuPont YMCA. Through education, this position will make an impact on the health and well-being of youth and the community.

Why did you join the National Health Corps Florida AmeriCorps program?
My interest in public health and desire to serve the underserved is what has drawn me to the National Health Corps. I believe that the skills and knowledge that I will accumulate during this service term will best prepare me when pursuing a career or obtaining a master’s degree. I want to dedicate myself to making a difference in the lives of others. I believe the National Health Corps is the best next step for me to serve others and become a more well-rounded person and professional.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
During my time of service, I hope to build upon my leadership skills, gain more knowledge around health practices for youth and refugees, and become a more skilled educator.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
After service, I plan to either serve for the Peace Corps or to begin working on a master’s degree.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I envision myself happily working in the health education field.
