I joined the program because I want to be part of a team of AmeriCorps members dedicated to improving community health in diverse ways. I want to meet a cohort of people who are concerned about local and national health issues, and who are determined to help reduce health disparities. I chose Florida to be close to my parents, who live near West Palm Beach, and to experience life on the other end of the state.
I am hoping to build a supportive social network of mission-driven friends and colleagues. I am also hoping to gain exposure to current as well as obscure issues in behavioral health through the perspectives of my clients and colleagues. In general, I want to gain more exposure to medical settings so that I can enter my medical career with a sense of what to expect, as well as with a clearer idea of how I will be able to contribute to community health.
I hope to be recently graduated from medical school and preparing for a residency in family medicine.
