Position Title: Health & Stabilization Service Coordinator 

 

Why did you join NHC Pittsburgh? 

I wanted to immerse myself in public health action for a year and better serve communities that the healthcare system has overlooked. I also wanted to do my part in addressing health disparities based on community needs. 

 

What do you hope to gain or learn during your service term? 

I hope to gain a better understanding of the issues and barriers that underserved communities face within healthcare and also how I can best implement what I have learned during the service year in my future career in healthcare. 

  

What are you most looking forward to during your service term? 

I am excited to play an active role in targeting public health issues. I also look forward to learning and growing through the cohort experience. 

  

What is something you appreciate about serving in Pittsburgh/at your Host Site? 

Having gone to college in Pittsburgh, I have gained a deep understanding of the diverse neighborhoods and communities in the area that face public health challenges. Working in Pittsburgh offers me the opportunity to elevate the lived experiences of its residents and drive meaningful change.  

  

What are your plans after your service as an AmeriCorps member? 

Attend medical school.
