Why did you join National Health Corps?
I joined the National Health Corps because I thought it was an invaluable opportunity to gain more insight into the broad field of public health. This service period will allow me to attain a deeper understanding of case management and offering preventative health care services while developing professional skills that will be applicable in my future public health career.

Tell us about an employment, service, or research experience that was important to you.
One of my most important research experiences at the University of Florida was conducting a study on Male Treatment Adherence looking at what might make it easier or more difficult to follow doctor's suggestions. This experience showed me the importance of engaging in patient-centered health care and cultural sensitivity. Although coordinating it was stressful at times, hearing the participants' deepest thanks made it all worth while!
What first sparked your interest in community service?
The various service activities that my church's youth group offered growing up first sparked my interest in community service. From working in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and rebuilding houses in the Appalachia Mountains to participating in medical mission trips to Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, I've seen the direct impact community service has.
