Educational background
BA in Political Science with a minor in Public Health from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire

What is your title and role at your host site?
STI/HIV Outreach and Education Coordinator at the Allegheny County Health Department. My primary duties include monitoring the condom distribution program at our clinic, as well as hosting sexual health education events for senior citizens.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
I joined the National Health Corps because I wanted to pursue a gap-year opportunity that aligns with my values of lifelong learning, alongside a cohort of like-minded individuals. Specifically, I wanted a year of concentrated public health experience working in a county health department.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
“Good health” means different things to different people. What I hope to gain from my service year is strong negotiation and partnership-building skills, and experience finding creative ways to solve complex health problems.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
I plan to pursue another year of public health experience, and then obtain my master’s degree in Public Health Policy and Administration.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
I hope to have graduated with a master’s degree in Public Health, and to be working in a position dedicated to maternal child health or sexual health. I would also like to take a beekeeping class and have a dog or two.
