Educational background

What is your title and role at your host site?
Care Coordinator at Bethlehem Haven Respite.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
Service has always been a priority to me. After graduating from college, I knew that I wanted to continue my path of service work, but also get connected within the healthcare field. The National Health Corps was a perfect fit for me because of their goal to help improve the health of underserved populations. I really believe that health for all is a global good. Eradicating health inequalities is important to me and I am hopeful to making a real step to tackling health inequalities within the Pittsburgh Community. I am so excited for my year with NHC!

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
I hope to take in as much as I can through this year of service. I hope I will gain new perspectives from the patients and medical professionals I will be serving with so that I will obtain an understanding of how public health professionals work to improve health for vulnerable populations.  I hope to be able to create meaningful relationships with my patients that will allow me to help improve their wellbeing.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
I hope to continue my education and obtain my Masters in Public Health or Social Work.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
Whatever I’m doing, I hope that I am advocating for vulnerable and underserved populations! I hope to work for a non-profit or NGO that works at a global and community-focused perspective to improve health for all.
