I am serving as a Patient Navigator at UPMC St. Margaret Lawrenceville Family Health Center.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
I joined the National Health Corps because I wanted to become integrated into my community and find ways to provide a meaningful impact through service work. By participating in the NHC it will allow me to become better educated and understand the social challenges of the people I serve and how I can help work towards active solutions with them.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
I am hoping to work with and serve diverse groups of individuals and gain professional skills that will help me to become a good and well-rounded healthcare provider. I want to build strong, trusting and meaningful relationships with patients and healthcare providers.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
I have begun the process of applying to medical school. After completing my tenure with AmeriCorps, I hope to matriculate and find time to travel.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
I hope to be completing medical school and figure out what area of medicine I want to focus on. Additionally, I hope to bring in the knowledge from what I have learned in AmeriCorps into the medical profession that I choose.
