What is your title and role at your host site?

Health Education Specialist at East Liberty Family Health Care Center. In this role, I will educate people on various aspects of health, and help patients find the resources they need to improve their health.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?

I became a member because the National Health Corps is a great opportunity to combine my desire to help people and my passion for public health. I am excited to meet new people, immerse myself into a new community, and put my knowledge to use in a practical way.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?

I’m hoping to gain a broader perspective that will allow me to better understand the health problems and disparities we are facing today. I want to reach out to people, and make a positive impact in the community.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?

After Americorps I plan to go to graduate school to get a Masters in Public Health.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?

In five years I want to be working in an NGO or nonprofit organization.
