Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Certificate in Conceptual Foundations of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh
What is your title and role at your host site?
I am serving at UPMC Children’s Hospital as an Outreach Coordinator
Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
I joined National Health Corps because service and Public Health initiatives in the healthcare field have always been an interest of mine. When I found out about NHC, I knew that this would be a valuable opportunity to pursue my passion in a hands-on, real-world setting.
What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
I hope to have an impact on the individuals in the Pittsburgh community, most importantly. I hope that the programs, interventions and initiatives that are implemented over the course of this year serve as the foundation for long-term reductions in health disparities.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
After my AmeriCorps service, I plan to pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Health with a focus in Epidemiology. I hope to use my experiences and educations to then have a positive and meaningful impact in healthcare.
Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I hope to be wrapping up medical school (finally). With my extensive and exhaustive training in Public Health and medicine, I hope to provide excellent medical care while also leading the charge to implement permanent health infrastructure systems in developing communities so that people not only receive proper medical help but have access to it as well.
