What is your title and role at your host site?
Health Educator, South Hills Interfaith Movement

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
I’ve always known that I wanted a career where I could serve the underserved and increase social, economic, and linguistic access to healthcare. National Health Corps is an incredible opportunity for me to gain a better understanding of what it means to serve and increase access in a public health capacity!

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
By the end of my year of service, I hope to have a better sense of how I can combine my career goals of becoming a clinician to my desire to improve overall wellness and healthcare access within my community. This year will allow me to learn while serving the Pittsburgh community and addressing food insecurity and its impact on wellness.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
I’ve recently learned that I’ll be going to medical school next fall! I’m also hoping to have a few (or a lot) of international experiences during the journey!

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I will be almost finished with my time in medical school and would have gained meaningful experiences that prepared me to have a wonderful career of serving others! By then, I also hope to have seen more of the US and the world and have given a TEDtalk-style presentation (as this is one of my dreams).
