About NHC's Application Process

We enthusiastically welcome applicants with a variety of backgrounds and experiences!

Most NHC members  serve a 1,700 hour service term over 42-46 weeks. Members will be placed into 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 service positions on a rolling basis. Member positions for the 2023-2024 service year began on August 29, 2023 and member positions for the 2024-2025 service year begin in August, 2024 (date to be announced). NHC does have  a variety of open positions that range from 675 hours - 2,000 hours where members can begin their service term at any time.

If moved forward, applicant completes interview with NHC staff
Chat with NHC Operating Site Staff
If moved forward, many candidates will have a brief meeting with NHC operating site staff to discuss positions of interest.
Position Selection Form
Candidate completes Position Selection Form for sites of interest
Host Site Interview
If moved forward, Host site supervisors invite and conduct interviews with all candidates
Post-host Site Interview
Host sites communicate offers to NHC staff to share with selected candidates
Offers Made
NHC staff will notify candidate of all offers the candidate receives
