What is your title and role at your host site? Male Responsibility Case Manager. My role will be providing male case management services to support and improve the health, mental health, and resilience of fathers through a new initiative called the Magnolia for Men program.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps? I joined the National Health Corps because I believe that in a country as advanced as the United States in healthcare and research the health status of different groups of Americans should be equal. I am motivated to contribute to the education and improvement of community members supported by the Magnolia Project and believe that in a collaborative spirit of service, we can make society a safer and more equitable place for generations to come.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
I hope to cultivate a new skill set that involves working with the public in a healthcare setting as well as understand the healthcare challenges facing the community and country at large. This way I am better prepared to work as a primary care physician in the future and can continue in the fight against healthcare disparities.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
After AmeriCorps I plan on attending medical school and working as a primary care physician.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
I envision myself completing a residency program in a hospital or clinic.
