Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?  The National Health Corps strives to accomplish exactly what I hope to accomplish in my future work in health care: to combine my passion for human biology and health and my fascination with human culture to provide the quality, respectful and culturally appropriate health care that everyone deserves. I knew that I would be surrounded by similarly committed individuals with whom I could combine our energy and unique talents to make a concrete and substantial contribution to improve the health of those in need, thereby giving them agency in their own futures.

Where do you want to be in five years? What do you want to be doing?  In five years I hope to have completed my Masters in Nursing and to be a practicing Nurse Practicioner working abroad in underserved and marginalized populations, while broadening my life experiences and exploring new places in the world.

What is your favorite part of service?  It is difficult to choose just one aspect of service for my “favorite.” There are just so many positives. However, at the top of the list are my fellow members who quickly have become an integral part of my life and unbeatable support system. Similarly, I truly appreciate the opportunity to interact and form relationships with patients from all walks of life.

What is your favorite part of Philadelphia?  Growing up in California, Philadelphia was never really on my radar and through a serendipitous turn of events I landed here and can’t imagine not being here. Through its abundance of delicious food, great people and unending event and concert options Philly has quickly drawn me in.
