Where are you from?
I grew up as a military child, so I am from a bit of everywhere in the United States! Some of the most interesting places I have lived in include Hawaii, Alaska, and Maine. As much as I traveled around when I was younger, I have lived in Florida for the past six years. These days, I consider the city of Jacksonville my home.
Why did you decide to join NHC?
I’m thrilled to dive into the meaningful world of public health through the National Health Corps! I have wanted to serve in the NHC ever since I learned about the program, but my commitment to public service has been lifelong. As a child, I was a member of the Girl Scout of America for thirteen years and even earned my bronze, silver, and gold award! I have served in AmeriCorps twice before, first as a biological technician intern in Alaska and then as a Jacksonville Teacher Resident in Florida.
What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?
During my service term, I hope to gain all the skills necessary to be a care coordinator my community needs and deserves when individuals reach out for care. I am particularly excited to learn the “ins and outs” of reconnecting women to beneficial resources, gaining experience in community health efforts, and other capacity building opportunities.
What are you most looking forward to during your service term?
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as a Connect Care Coordinator for the Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition. I am looking forward to using my pre-existing background and skills to help make a lasting positive impact for those living in my local community or in need.
