What is your title and role at your host site? I will be the Teen Health Center Facilitator at the Florida Department of Health in Clay County. For my position, I will have the responsbility of leading a teen health afterschool program. This program will give teens the opportunity to learn about current public health topics that are relevant to themselves.
Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps? I have previously served as an AmeriCorps member and I fell in love with AmeriCorps and everything that it represents. I chose the NHC so I could serve in a health education capacity and learn more about health issues that are relevant to teenagers.
What are you hoping to gain from your year of service? I am hoping to gain a better understanding of how I can best make an impact in the field of health education.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps service? After AmeriCorps I hope to get a job in the health field working with school-aged children.
Where do you envision yourself in 5 years? In five years I hope to have steady employment teaching health education and thoroughly enjoying life!
