What is your role at your host site?

My role at River Region is to increase access of health care to our clients, assisting them in obtaining health insurance (Medicaid), connecting them to primary care appointments, and educating them on various health topics and how to live a healthy lifestyle.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?

I joined AmeriCorps because I want to engage in tangible service to those who do not have access to health care.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?

I hope to gain exposure to the field of drug addiction, hands-on clinical experience with patients, and better communication skills.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?

I plan to attend medical school and become a physician who serves the underserved.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?

Successfully graduated from medical school and starting year one of residency.
