What is your title and role at your host site?
Americorps Member at Caribbean Women's Health - Brooklyn
Why did you join the National Health Corps New York AmeriCorps program?
I joined NHC to put my Public Health skills into practice and give back to underserved communities faced with health disparities. I believe NHC will help me to gain first-hand experience of the role of Public Health within healthcare and help me to become a better advocate for underserved populations.
A fun fact about me:
I love the beach but can't swim.
What has been the most meaningful part of service for you?
So far, the most meaningful part of service for me has been learning a lot of information that will help set the foundation for me for the remainder of my service term, beginning to identify needs within the community served by my host site and how I can begin to help meet these needs as well as creating new ways and services to educate those served through my host site. Looking forward to the remainder of my service term I hope what will become one of the most meaningful parts of my service will be building impactful and long-lasting relationships between team members, community members, supervisors, and more importantly all those served through my host site.
