Position Title:

Opioid Use Care Coordinator

Where are you from?

I am originally from Irvine, CA but have been living in the Bay Area for the past 3 years now.

Why did you decide to join NHC?
The reason that I joined NHC was because I wanted to start my career in public health. After hearing about the internship opportunities at NHC SF and researching NHC and AmeriCorps, I felt that the programs and sites that NHC collaborated with were incredibly interesting and that many of the positions available were very relevant to the problems that certain communities in the city are facing.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

During my service term, I am hoping to gain more knowledge about the opioid epidemic within San Francisco as well as other ways that I can help or contribute. I am also hoping to learn the perspectives of and tips from people in the community whether it be from those working at the same host site as me or those in the community who frequent the host site.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I am most looking forward to becoming closer to everyone in my cohort. Most of us are working at different host sites and each of our positions are unique. Because of this, I am excited to not only get to know everyone but also hear about their experiences and the lessons that they learn while at NHC.
