Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps? I joined AmeriCorps because of the emphasis on serving, and to build my skills and experience in a guided but flexible environment.
What are you hoping to gain from your year of service? I hope to gain confidence and proficiency in my ability to effectively execute the skills I’ve learned in my academic studies. I also hope to further my understanding of the Jacksonville community, and learn how to serve differing populations.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps service? After AmeriCorps I plan to spend at least the next few years working in Jacksonville as a health educator. I may look into briefly working abroad.
Where do you envision yourself in 5 years? In 5 years, I see myself building my career in the health field, and possibly working on, if not having completed, a graduate degree. I would also like to regain my fluency in Spanish so I can provide education and assistance to Hispanic populations.
