Educational background:  BS- Human Biology, Health, & Society  - Cornell University

Host Site: The PLAYERS Center

What is your title and role at your host site? I will serve as a patient navigator at The  PLAYERS Center and will be helping families fill out Kidscare applications to get health insurance for their children. I will also be participating in community health events providing unintentional injury education.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps? In my gap year, I want to use what I have learned to help others and learn more about the world of public health.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service? I hope increase my knowledge of public health, expand my network of public health professionals, gain experience in a healthcare setting, refine my interests in how I would like to participate in public health in the future, and focus on the best ways to go about helping those in need.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service? I plan on enrolling in a Masters of Public Health program.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years? I hope to be working on my PHD in public health, with the hopes of becoming an intervention researcher with a specific interest in health disparities.
