Why did you decide to join NHC?
I was seeking an opportunity that would allow me to interact with diverse patient backgrounds and gain perspective regarding inequalities in healthcare prior to beginning my journey to becoming a physician. I decided to serve with NHC to be part of an immersive experience that would allow me to further understand barriers to healthcare and confront social determinants of health in underserved communities. 

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?
During this service year, I’m looking forward to gaining an understanding of the challenges patients face in navigating healthcare. By recognizing and comprehending the root causes of health inequities, I hope to use this service year with NHC as a foundation for establishing an interdisciplinary toolkit that I can rely on when advocating and caring for patients in my future in healthcare. I’m also excited and eager to learn from a community of people who are enthusiastic and passionate about serving the people of their community. 

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?
 I’m excited to interact with patients and have a positive impact on their experiences in healthcare. I’m also excited to connect with other members and explore Philadelphia!
