Educational Background: Graduated with a BS in Biological Sciences

Philadelphia Health Corps Role: Patient Assistance Program Advocate at Philadelphia Department of Public Health – Health Center 3

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?  I joined AmerCorps/NHC because one of my passions is giving back to and helping those who can't help themselves as well as to get some experience in public health. I want to go to medical school and I believe working in a health center for a year will be great experience.  I also wanted to work with others who have similar and even different goals in life and how we can all help one another reach those goals.

Where do you want to be in five years? What do you want to be doing?  I want to be working in a hospital and working on opening up my own practice. I want to be a pediatrician. I love kids and medicine.

What is your favorite part of service?  My favorite part of service is seeing the looks on a patients face when they receive their medication. The feeling of knowing that you had something to do with putting that smile on thier face is one of life's greatest feelings.

How would you describe the Philadelphia Health Corps?  PHC is a group of amazing and dedicated individuals that I love serving with; they are always there to help one another. I also love the diversity of everyone's backgrounds.

What is your favorite part of Philadelphia?: My favorite part of Philly is the Reading Terminal Market. All the different foods for different cultures is amazing.

Tell us a random fact. (1) I was born in England, (2) Two summers ago I spent the summer in Johannesburg, South Africa working with a pediatric surgeon.
