Host Site: Hubbard House

What is your role at your host site?

Youth Prevention Facilitator; I will be planning and teaching relationship abuse prevention classes to children in Duval County Full Service Schools grades K-12.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?

I joined AmeriCorps initially as something to fill my gap year between undergrad and med school; then, I realized that this would be a year to truly explore myself and really figure out what I want to do and where I want to go with my future.  I joined NHC because I have a strong interest in the healthcare field and it seemed like an excellent fit for my goals for this year.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?

I hope to grow as a person, gain some direction regarding my future career path, and to make connections and friendships that will last long into the future.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?

I’m not exactly sure; I eventually would like to go to graduate or professional school, but I might be in for another AmeriCorps term or a job. I’m going to see where the wind blows me.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully, I will have completed or be completing an advanced degree in something that I enjoy and will be working in or applying for jobs in that sector.
