Alan Arroyo-Chavez (he/him) has served as one of the Program Coordinators for National Health Corps San Francisco since August 2020. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Studies in Race & Ethnicity in 2019 and a Master of Arts in 2020, both at Stanford University. Prior to NHC, Alan interned at the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre in Bogotá, Colombia, where he researched ways that corporations have exacerbated human rights violations throughout Latin America. He has also interned with Kifkif in Madrid, Spain, learning about the social dynamics that lead Queer Trans People of Color (QTPOC) to seek asylum while providing essential services and sexual health education to QTPOC migrants in the Community of Madrid. As his interest in public health continues to develop through NHC, Alan continues actively researching social and political disparities and issues throughout Latin America, continuously reading and watching articles, analyses, and documentaries pertaining to conflicts, resistance, and cultural beauty. Alan’s hobbies include videogaming, collecting recipes, watching horror/suspense/drama films and series, anything Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra, long walks, spending time with loved ones, and travel.
