Educational background: Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Valdosta State University

What is your title and role at your host site?
I will be teaching the younger generation about violence through a program called WAVE, Working Against Violence Everyday, in order to prevent future domestic crimes.  In addition, I will be promoting healthy relationships in order to reduce violence in our communities.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
My friend recommended doing AmeriCorps when he realized I was unsure of my next step in life and how burned out I was with my current situation.  After researching it, I fell in love with the idea of people out there helping others better their lives just for the good of the community as a whole.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
I hope to gain a new perspective on whats really going on in our government/ health care system. Therefore I will know how to help the community in the years to come. I also hope to gain a good network of people who has the same heart toward people as me.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
I plan on going back to school for my masters in Public Health or doing another year service with AmeriCorps.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
I see myself helping women balance the everyday stresses of life like work and family. I want to show them how to handle their responsibility without negating to take care of them self.
