What is your role at your host site?

I do Patient Care Support there, anything from assisting patients to fill out forms for government assistance (Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc) to calling them to make sure that they are following up with their appointments.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?

I had a year to do something between my undergrad and hopefully attending medical school in the fall, and I wanted to do something good for the community that will also help me grow professionally.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?

I hope to grow professionally, gain empathy from serving the impoverished and underserved, and to learn as much about health care as I can.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?

Hopefully, I will be attending medical school next fall.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?

A recent graduate from medical school and just beginning my residency in Emergency Medicine.
