Hometown:  Winchester, MA

Educational Background: BA in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Washington University in St. Louis

Host Site: UF Health at Jacksonville - Healthy Start

What is your role at your host site?

I am a women’s services outreach associate.  This means I am enrolling women in Healthy Start, a program to improve infant mortality rates, while also educating patients on pregnancy risks.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?

I am passionate about giving back to and about improving sexual and reproductive health in our community.  Serving with the North Florida Health Corps at UF Health gives me the opportunity to do both those things!

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?

I am hoping to learn more about and gain experience in the field of public health, especially related to sexual and reproductive health, in order to ultimately help me decide what path I want to do long-term in life.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?

I am planning on going to graduate school to become a nurse midwife.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully practicing as a nurse midwife with populations in need!
