Philadelphia Health Corps Role: Patient Assistance Program Advocate at Philadelphia Department of Public Health – Health Center 9
Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps? The AmeriCorps/NHC program was a seminal opportunity to open up my experiences to the healthcare field. The chance to interact and assist patients on a daily basis was an important contributing factor towards joining this program. Ultimately, I believed AmeriCOrps/NHC would provide me with the tools to learn and grow from the daily experience and obstacles that I encountered.
Where do you want to be in five years? What do you want to be doing? Ideally, I would like to be attending medical school to pursue my goal of becoming a physician. Hopefully my future self has begun to plan a family!
What is your favorite part of service? Interacting and forming solid relationships with patients on a daily basis is easily my favorite part of service, particularly because I plan to enter the medical field in the future. In addition to the patients, the special bonds and relationships formed among my fellow AmeriCorps members will always be treasured.
What is your favorite part of Philadelphia? Hands down, the food and accessibility of stores in Philadelphia is amazing.
Tell us a random fact. I can put peanut butter on any type/form of food and thoroughly enjoy it. Appropriately, I prefer to call peanut butter, “peanut better” because it contains the innate qualities to make everything better.
