What do you do at your site to alleviate hunger in the community that you serve?

One of the best things we can do for our health and our wallet is to cook, yet processed and fast foods saturate our every day in America. At Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, I educate individuals on good nutrition and provide them the tools to make inexpensive, nutritious meals at home. I hope to help empower our community with the ability to access whole foods and transform them into nourishing meals, uniting families and communities around food.

What are you looking forward to for the Christmas holiday?

Christmas is my favorite day of the year. It is also the only day of the year that my family will consent to dinner table games, like charades, and that we have Christmas pudding. I still tromp around our home in my stocking each year and save the fragrant pine needles from our trees. What I love most about Christmas, however, is the opportunity it gives to celebrate the friends and family who support me, even at my lowest moments, with love-infused home cooking, full-strength hugs, DIY gifts, meticulously-made cards, and kind messages.
