What do you do at your site to provide high quality health care for those in need?
The Birmingham Free Clinic offers an integrative approach to health care, making sure to take care of all aspects of our patient’s health. For instance, we offer different specialty clinics, including a vision clinic with Guerilla Eye Services and Mission Vision. We also offer the Birmingham Health Links, which works with patients to connect them to social services based on their needs. Specifically, my responsibilities include case management services to help connect patients with medical services and facilitate Patient Medication Assistance Program applications, which allow our patients to receive free medications.
What are you looking forward to for the Christmas holiday season?
Over the holiday, the Birmingham Free clinic will be closed to allow our volunteers to spend time with their families. During this closure, I look forward to reorganizing and revamping the health education materials and referrals for our patients. Also, I most look forward to my tradition of making pirohy with my Dad and getting together with my friends from high school for our annual gift exchange.
