Hello! My name is Laura Milstein, and I will be serving as an Asthma Educator at Respiratory Health Association to provide asthma education to youth and adults around the city. I primarily hope to gain a deeper understanding of how this extremely prevalent health issue manifests itself in Chicago. As a Social Policy major, I'm also interested in examining the intersection of policy, the environment, and individual decision-making in how the disease is contracted and managed.
Previously, I attended Northwestern University in Evanston, just north of Chicago. While there, I volunteered with various organizations around the country, worked at a policy research lab, and took a lot of (non-academic) classes that taught me mostly useless skills (e.g., harmonica). I'm excited to get to know the city better next year!
