Why did you decide to join NHC?

I joined NHC to gain hands-on experience working in public health and to engage with a diverse community. After studying community health in college and serving in various facets of community health in Pomona, California for the past year, I joined to gain a more nuanced experience working specifically with people experiencing homelessness or living on the streets.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I hope to learn about different approaches that community leaders have in channeling the strengths of a community towards health and wellness goals. I am grateful for the opportunity to gain insight into the lives of vulnerable community members and to have a small part in supporting their health goals.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I am most looking forward to hearing the life stories of the people I serve. I look forward to supporting people facing obstacles and to celebrating their successes. I also look forward to getting to know the other NHC members and to learning from my peers!
