New Kensington, PA

Why did you join NHC Pittsburgh?

I joined NHC to gain experience in the public health field while also being able to provide service to my local Pittsburgh communities. I am passionate about health and helping others, so I think this is going to be a wonderful opportunity for me to express those passions.

What do you hope to gain or learn during your service term?    

I hope to gain experience working with others, particularly patients, as I do not have a strong background in one-on-one health work. I think this service term will help me to learn how to create trusting connections with people where I can assist them with their health needs. I am also hoping to gain a strong sense of belonging at my host site with others who share the same passions as me.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?            

I am most looking forward to working with the substance abuse treatment coordinators at my host site. I am hoping that we can do a lot to provide positive changes to the New Kensington community.
