Why did you decide to join NHC?

I always knew I wanted to complete a service program during my gap year before medical school, and the National Health Corps was the perfect opportunity to gain clinical experience while serving those in need. I love the aspect of working with an established host site and aiding them in their goals to create a healthier and stronger community. 

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I am hoping to learn more about how community health organizations serve their local area, and what they have done that has been successful. One day, I would love to start a community health organization in my own hometown, and the National Health Corps is a great opportunity for me to learn from people who have been involved in their organizations for decades.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term? 

The warm Florida Weather! But also, getting to know the other AmeriCorps members here in Florida. We all work at our individual host sites, but there are many opportunities for group service projects and spirit events. We all come from different areas of the country and have our own perspectives, but we are connected through a common desire to serve.
