What is your title and role at your host site?
I am an Outreach Coordinator for the Allegheny County Health Department’s Chronic Disease Prevention Program.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
I was looking for an opportunity to return to the Greater Pittsburgh Area and work in public health. I’m excited to have found a position that will allow me to apply what I’ve learned, while serving my community and exploring my public health interests.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
My goal is to grow personally and professionally, while I learn about the specific barriers and disparities affecting those living in the Pittsburgh area. I’m excited to connect with my host site and the different organizations they work with.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
I’m not sure! I’m hoping AmeriCorps will help me decide what type of graduate degree I would like to pursue, and ultimately keep working in public health.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
I see myself being a public health professional working in the community to address environmental health inequities.
