Outreach and Care Coordinator at Sun River Church Ave and CWHA 

Why did you join the National Health Corps New York AmeriCorps program? 

I saw NHC as an opportunity to become more involved within a community by contributing to its efforts of addressing health issues and inequities. I also wanted to explore different healthcare roles and gain relevant skills to be a healthcare provider.   

A fun fact about me: 

I can’t drink coffee.  

What has been the most meaningful part of service for you? 

One of the most meaningful part of service for me is interacting with patients. Recently, I’ve been helping out CWHA’s breastfeeding program in collecting performance data by calling its participants. The women I spoke with were so grateful for the support and community CWHA built for them, and I was inspired to contribute more to the organization. Hearing the words directly from the people we serve reminded me how much impact people and organizations can make on the health of a community.
