Position Summary

Career Exploration is crucial to encourage students from underrepresented groups to consider professions in health care. This position will coordinate a robust, hands on program to lead those students from low-income and potential first generation college students to consider a career in health.

This coordinator will work with community partners and post-secondary institutions to develop and present a curriculum to explore health careers.

The major duties of this position are to coordinate a Health Careers Exploration Program using local resources to provide presentations that are hands-on and meaningful. This position also requires the collaboration and coordination with community members and education institutions.

EOC of PA exists to advance the education of those who are low-income and potential first-generation college student. Engagement of students in our Target Schools is crucial to the success of our Programs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Organize numerous activities as part of the Medical Mentorship Program.
2. Coordinate all aspects of this program that is offered in both agency TRIO Programs (EOC & Talent Search)
3. Create registration forms in online format
4. Provide program support as outlined in the current program grant in all areas of programming
5. Recruit participants as outlined by the Department of Education TRIO guidelines.
6. Work with Medical and college students to provide presentations to participants on zoom and in person
7. Track registrations and notify participants of schedules
8. Maintain tracking system for supplies needed for Career Exploration Program.
9. Conduct presentations in schools, referral partners and on zoom and present when comfort level is achieved.
10. Professionally represent the agency at public forums.

Characteristics of an Ideal Candidate

Self-Starter

Knowledge Required for the Position

Skill with Microsoft Office or other software for a variety of data processing operations involving a range of problem solving, record keeping, correspondence, and service tracking options.

Computer knowledge is required with understanding of virtual presentation software such as Zoom.

Special Considerations

Office hours are typically between 9 to 5.  LUNCH HOUR DOES NOT COUNT TOWARDS WORKING HOURS.
However, evening hours and weekend hours are possible.
