For nearly 100 years, our organization has adapted services and tailored programs in response to the evolving needs of our clients.

Nationalities Service Center's Refugee Health Team works with all newly arrived refugee clients to establish healthcare here in the United States.

The Health Education and Supports Specialist at Nationalities Service Center supports newly arrived refugees and immigrants. The Specialist will connect clients to women’s health and pregnancy supports, connections to Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) benefits, and provide health orientation to newly arrived refugees. They will also provide general health access supports to vulnerable refugees and immigrants in the Greater Philadelphia region. The Health Education and Supports Specialist is an integral part of NSC’s Health Team and connects with other NSC programs on a regular basis.

This position is a member of the Refugee Health team, which is part of NSC's Health and Wellness Department.

The member’s role on the Health Team is as a Health Education and Supports Specialist, educating newly arrived clients on health systems and processes in the US, and connecting clients to women’s health and pregnancy supports and services. As such, the specialist is in frequent contact with providers and other staff at clinic partners and internally with health team staff and other NSC team members.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating health and wellness activities including classes and groups
  • Educating patients on medical interventions and prevention
  • Documenting interactions with patients in an electronic health record
  • Collaborating with supervisors and other leadership
  • Providing social service navigation
  • Health education, connection to supportive resources and services
