Getting To Know a Life Long Southsider

Posted on: July 28, 2016Chicago

It is always a challenge for me to introduce myself on paper. So here I go. My Name is Patricia V Braboy. I am a proud graduate of THEE Jackson State University. I earned my B.S. in Health Care Administration from the university in 2014. I am currently a Substitute teacher at Chicago Public Schools and a first year grad student at the University of Illinois. Something unique about me, I absolutely LOVE to coupon!! It is a thrill and it relaxes me all at the same time.

I have lived on the southeast side of Chicago my entire life. I have seen many young women become mothers when they were only babies themselves. I have watched them not get the care they needed because they were ill informed. I am one of these women. As the NHC Chicago Health Educator at Erie Family Health Center - Clemente and Westside, I would like to educate young women about sexual health and how to protect themselves from unwanted illnesses and unexpected pregnancies. I hope to gain a better perspective on the current health status and mindset of young women and men in Chicago. I want to answer questions that are left unanswered because of little knowledge from parents or from fear.

This blog post was written by incoming NHC Chicago 2016-17 member Patricia Braboy.

Patricia looks forward to serving as a Health Educator at Erie Family Health Center - Clemente and Westside.
