Healthy lifestyles usually emphasize taking care of our bodies or maintaining a certain physical appearance. We often overlook the impact that our mental health can have in our day-to-day lives. People experiencing depression or anxiety tend to smile less, and at CDPH School-Based Oral Health, we're all about educating students to ensure they have healthy, happy, smiles.

When I'm visiting schools I always promote the idea of wellness by encouraging students to exercise and eat nutritious foods, in addition to giving them oral health education. I let students know that doing these things will improve their overall health and make them feel happier. The happier they feel the more they'll smile, and take care of those pearly whites.

Although my service deals with school based dentistry, we share an office with the Chicago Dept. of Public Health/ Mental Health Programs. Our site is one of six clinics that provide mental health services for all adults (18+). You can schedule an appointment or walk- in, and assistance will be provided for those in need.
