On January 20, 2014, Chicago Health Corps and Healthy Communities Corps members made the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday a day ON, not a day OFF.

Members teamed up with City Year Chicago to revamp Roger C. Sullivan High School and Joyce Kilmer Elementary School, both located in the Rogers Park neighborhood.  After a warm welcome by both schools' principals, Sullivan High School students and alumni, and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, CHC and HCC members got to work!

Chicago Health Corps and Healthy Communities Corps joined nearly 1,100 volunteers in transforming the built environment of these two schools.  On Tuesday morning, Sullivan and Kilmer students were met with freshly painted murals on the walls and new benches to sit on outside.  Members appreciated the opportunity to be part of such a large-scale project and contribute their artistic skills!

We urge you to make MLK Day 2015 a day ON, not a day OFF too!
