NHC SF Americorps Member, Neha Chhabra, shares her experience serving at the Food Pharmacy at Curry Senior Center.

Along with the presence of DPH in elementary schools providing free services to students, once a month I get to meet with my cohort and participate in fun group activities like food pharmacies! Whitney, one of my NHC cohort peers is the food pharmacy coordinator and did an excellent job of training her peers in a food pharmacy at Curry Senior Center. Many of the other members also get to work in food pharmacies. The best part about serving at Curry was not only helping out clients and patients, but seeing what some of my peers do in their service live. This position has taught me so much about nutrition and it all comes alive when I see other members' focus areas combining like obesity, aging and nutrition.
