What do you do at your site to provide primary and preventative medical care services to the populations you serve?
The Squirrel Hill Health Center (SHHC) provides low-cost medical care to underserved populations across Southwestern Pennsylvania. In addition to having a primary care clinic in Squirrel Hill/Homestead, the SHHC also operates a "Mobile Unit," which travels to various underserved areas in Pittsburgh to help alleviate some barriers of accessing medical care for many of our patients. As the Pittsburgh Health Corps member, I am primarily responsible for the scheduling, administration, and follow-up of any and all tasks related to the mobile unit. I am very grateful for my experience particularly with the mobile unit, because I have the opportunity to witness patients accessing excellent primary medical care in the comfort of their own neighborhood.
