Stepping Back to Leap Forward

Posted on: March 16, 2017Florida

Midway through each service term members of the National Health Corps - Florida conduct their annual retreat to reflect on the first half of their service terms and plan for the second half and beyond. This year’s event was held in St. Augustine, Florida, the scenic beach side city that holds the title of America’s oldest city. Well known for it’s long history, white sand beaches stretching to the horizon, and unique Spanish architecture, the city was the perfect location to unwind and catch up with one another.

After meeting up, the day started with members and staff travelling to the beach where they boarded kayaks and paddled over to a nearby island to learn about the local ecosystem and some St. Augustine history:

After lunch and a short presentation on self-care, the team travelled to another beach for group discussions on how the year of service was going. Following shortly after the reflections was the final team building exercise of the day, an epic scavenger hunt

And perhaps everyone’s favorite task on the scavenger hunt, take a picture with a dog:

After the scavenger hunt was completed, members met back up to finish off the day with some closing words before heading for dinner at the second best pizza joint in the country, Pizza Time.
