What are you up to now?

I work at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, a non-profit hospital in Oakland, CA. I am a Health Educator at teh Perinatal Center where I conduct one -on- one and group counseling to support women to have healthier pregnancies.

Did your AmeriCorps experience have any influence on what you are doing today?

Yes, serving as an AmeriCorps member at Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force was my first experience in both a clinical and community-based health education. I was inspired by my year of service to pursue a Master's in Health Education at Columbia University. I followed my degree with another year of AmeriCorps(yep, I didnt get enough the first time!) serving at a reproductive health clinic for teens in San Francisco and that brought me to my current position at Alta Bates.

Your favorite quote about service:

"For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others." Nelson Mandela

Just for Fun:

Angela married her amazing partner Farhad in an outdoor California redwoods wedding last summer. Congratulations Angela!
