Name: Meghana Mogalipuvvu (she/her)

Host Site: Nationalities Service Center

Position: Health Education Liaison

Where are you from? Princeton Junction, NJ

Why did you decide to join NHC?
I decided to join NHC during my gap year to serve diverse underserved populations in urban
communities. I hoped to learn about how factors outside of hospitalized care like food insecurity,
cultural barriers, or the absence of preventative health screenings may force vulnerable
populations into a cycle of health insecurity.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?
During my service term, I hope to learn from community organizations and physicians about
how to navigate barriers. By immersing myself in this social health training, I hope to learn how
to provide nuanced, culturally humble care and mitigate health disparities in the Philadelphia
community and beyond as a future physician.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?
I am looking forward to interacting and learning from NSC’s clients, who are refugees that come
from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I am also very excited to work with refugee mothers who
are expecting and help them navigate the healthcare system and reproductive health resources in
the Philadelphia area.
