Outreach Coordinator

Position Summary

Member will be serving within the Clothing with Purpose (CWP) program to include inventory management and community building: increasing community awareness, assisting in building additional agency partnerships, and engaging the community in volunteerism activities to assist with the program growth. Position activities include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop new relationships with partner agencies: Find agencies/partners that are in need of clothing. (clothing closets, etc.)
  • Follow up with agencies/partners on their ongoing needs
  • Volunteer Management to include recruitment and scheduling 
  • Social media coordinator for the CWP program.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing individualized, tailored care to a specific patient population
  • Coordinating with other programs to expand partnerships
  • Building relationships with community experts and internal professionals
  • Follow up with agencies/partners on their ongoing needs
  • Volunteer Management to include recruitment and scheduling 
  • Social media coordinator for the CWP program.

Characteristics of an Ideal Candidate

  • Passion for helping people
  • Ability to lift boxes up to 50lbs. Inventory management includes moving items, filling partner agency orders, and assisting with the movement of donated items (clothing/toys/household goods) almost daily.
  • Outgoing: The ability to meet and engage new people, talk professionally to partner agencies, staff, and volunteers is very important.
  • Tech-savvy to include Microsoft Office products, cell phone, laptop & tablet use.
  • Prior community engagement is helpful; however, a strong desire to learn is most important.
  • Even-tempered personality - able to work with a variety of staff, volunteers, and community agencies. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with service recipients, colleagues, agency partners, and volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize workload efficiently.
  • Ability to write and communicate clearly and professionally

Knowledge Required for the Position

Knowledge of AmeriCorps/Health Corps member requirements

Skill with Microsoft Office or other software for a variety of data processing operations involving a range of problem solving, record keeping, correspondence, and service tracking options

Supervision

Member uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments following set procedures, independently.

Review

The Member independently plans and carries out the projects and selects the approaches and methods to be used in solving problems.

Guidelines

Most instructions are easily memorized and require little interpretation.

Complexity

In making decisions, the Member is often required to depart from past approaches and to extend traditional techniques.

Special Considerations

  • Unusual physical demands involving climbing, lifting, stooping, and reaching, etc.
  • Personal vehicle required
